“But why SIX months?”
“Why not just take a two week holiday like normal people and come back to work after that?”
“Six months? Are you sure?”
“Won’t you get fed up of only talking to each other for SIX WHOLE MONTHS?”
“How will you live without Indian food for SIX months?”
We are Mishana and Amit. A few months ago, we quit our jobs and bought tickets to travel for six months. Of all the questions we were prepared for when we told friends, siblings, bosses, boyfriend’s mother, girlfriend’s father, landlord, neighbourhood grocery store owner, and milkman – this was the most unexpected.
Why six months? From the vague “Because it seemed like a nice round number?” to the hippie “Because that’s how long it’ll take to ‘find ourselves’” and every once in a while, the slightly annoyed “Why not?” none of our answers seem to really make the questioning souls happy.
So this is our attempt to find an answer.
If all goes according to plan, we’ll be living out of a car and a tent for three months on a road trip across America, caravanning (or ‘camper vanning’) across Australia for another month, and then exploring Thailand and Cambodia for two months. We’ll be blogging our way through these next six months and would love to hear from you along the way.
See ya around….
